Asanas (Yoga postures) form the bedrock from which all other yogic techniques arise. It forms the base from which success in higher yogic techniques can be integrated. Our body is the combined crystallized history of our past thoughts, words and actions and as such one of the storehouses of our conditioning. The releasing of our conditioning and emotions lodged in bodily tissue supports and enables mental and spiritual freedom. This is possible if asana is practiced in a compassionate and intelligent way, with a maximum of precise anatomical alignment and without imposing the ambitions of our minds how far we have to go into the postures. If anatomical precision is supported by correct breath-work, bandhas and drishtis, the pranic flow in the body can be experienced as a liberating tool.

We will use two formats of asana classes according to the needs of the particular group:

    1. Technical Talk-Through to analyse the anatomical details of the postures and to break down the various phases of entering and exiting the postures into their constituents. Through inducing precision this format also achieves that students practice the postures safely without encountering demerit.
    2. The Mysore-style format is used to attend to the individual needs of students, to eliminate individual problems and to propel them to the next level.

Pranayama: Learn how to use pranayama to harmonize the doshas (humors of the body) and thus attain a state of health and balance as well as how to still the mind, enabling spiritual insight. Additionally, you will learn how to liberate the breathing pattern, the use of breath waves, breath ratios, digital counting, contraindications and the effects of the major pranayamas.

Kriyas: The kriyas are predominantly methods of purification of the body. They support the work of postures and are especially important for people who live in large cities. They aid in removing contamination from chemical, environmental, electrical, biological and electromagnetic sources.

Yogic Meditation: Meditation is the method of bringing your mind into a receptive state
so that you can receive higher knowledge that is already there. Yogic meditation is a collection of scientific methods to bring about such awareness. These include mantra, mudras, chakra visualization and Kundalini-raising techniques.

Mantra: Mantras are bio-plasmic sound waves that are consciously used to bring about positive change in your body, mind and surroundings.

Mudras: Mudras are a large group of yogic techniques that are designed to divert subtle energy (prana) into a particular direction for a specific yogic purpose. They are powerful tools to achieve success in asana, pranayama, Kundalini-raising and meditation.

Chakra visualization: The yogic chakras are representations of evolutionary brain circuitry with the lower three chakras representing our reptilian, mammalian and primate ancestry respectively. By understanding the chakras and skillfully meditating on them yoga offers the opportunity to activate higher brain centres and propel the evolution not only of the individual but of society as a whole.

Kundalini Raising Techniques: These consist of a combination of all other yogic means to raise the life force (prana) to a level where meditation is easy and spiritual insight becomes spontaneous.

Yoga Sutra: The Sutra, the operating manual of yoga, will be shown to teach a path that contains all these methods as an integrated whole rather than fractured individual methods.
